The seasons are changing! As we all prepare to move into Autumn, we wanted to take a brief walk down memory lane… In 2012, the Park Plaza Hotel was purchased with plans to reopen as a hotel and to be redesigned back to its former glory with a few modern amenities. In addition to opening the floor plan and enlarging the rooms, full central air/heating and private bathrooms were added. The four star Chop House Bar & Grille was also constructed to provide spectacular dishes both for the community and hotel guests. One reason for the complete refurbishment was that Seguin, which recently has experienced a burgeoning economy thanks to its manufacturing plants and influx of citizens, needed a luxury hotel and event space.
Another aspect of the region’s vibrancy is the proliferance of local festivals. From October 28-30, Seguin hosts Pecanfest. Pecanfest is a celebration of local pecan growers and the community’s rural heritage. From November 4-13, nearby New Braunfels hosts their “Ten Day Salute to Sausage.” Wurstfest regularly brings in vast crowds with its alluring combination of high-quality food, German culture, and live music. Park Plaza, in addition to welcoming visitors for these festivals, also is a thriving event space for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve parties with a 1920s backdrop.
One of our central goals here at the Park Plaza Hotel is to stay as true to the original architect’s vision as possible, putting historical value at the center of our experience. Now, with 30 comfortable rooms, regular live music, first class food, and that 1920s charm, the Park Plaza Hotel has become a lively space for Seguin culture, as well as a welcoming place for visitors.
